JT changes it's packaging of tobacco products to comply with the amended order of Ministry of Finance
Japan Tobacco Inc.(JT)(TSE:2914) announces today that it will gradually change all of its packaging of tobacco products in Japan to comply with “The Ministerial Ordinance for the Partial Amendment of Tobacco Business Act Enforcement Regulations (Order of Ministry of Finance No. 4) (*1)”.
The ordinance requires the change in description and layout of the compulsory caution statements on all packages of tobacco products. It includes the compulsory caution statements for heated tobacco products and caution statements when displaying yields of nicotine and tar. New caution statements will be applied to all the heated tobacco products and cigarettes with a certain volume (*2) shipped from April 1, 2020. The application for the remaining products will begin from July 1, 2020.
JT will carry out preparations to adhere to the above timelines and will gradually change design of its product packages. We continue to operate our business in compliance with regulations.

The Expansion of the Caution Statements Indicated Area
The indicated area of caution statements will be expanded from 30% to at least 50% of the principle areas.
