Tokyo June 8, 2017 --- Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT) (TSE: 2914) has announced the nationwide launch of three new products from Winston, the second largest tobacco brand in the world(*). "Winston Compact Blue 6 Box", "Winston Compact Blue 3 Box" and "Winston Compact Blue One Box" will be launched nationwide from mid July in Japan.
The Winston brand was born in 1954 in the United States of America and today it is a global brand with over sixty years of history. In Japan, the Cabin and Caster brands were integrated into the Winston brand in 2015 to share its global identity.
Launch of products with a "straight-type" taste and a "just right" format that can be enjoyed for 400 yen
In line with our aim to continuously satisfy the diverse preferences of our consumers, Winston regular series has prepared a lineup that allows three different taste types to be enjoyed; a "bitter type", with a roasted taste; a "straight type", with a clear and smooth taste; and a "sweet type", with a mellow taste.
'Now, in response to diversifying consumers' needs, we are offering three new, "straight-type" "Winston Compact Blue" products for 400 yen each. These products feature a new shape that fits in the hand, and a more compact and thinner size cigarette than the regular size (filter king size), while maintaining a satisfying taste to be enjoyed.
The packages have a simple yet sophisticated design: with the Winston logo and an eagle, the symbol of the Winston brand, is arrayed against a background of blue as the image color of "Winston Compact Blue".
Together with the launch of these three new products of "Winston Compact Blue", the sale of "Winston Blue 10 Box", "Winston Blue 8 Box", "Winston Blue 6 100's Box", "Winston Blue 3 100's Box" and "Winston Blue One 100's Box", which have all enjoyed consumers' patronage since going on sale, will be discontinued, starting in early July, upon the selling-out of their inventory.
As shown by the launching of these new Winston products, JT is committed to continuously improving the quality of its products and services to satisfy consumers better.
